Over the years, they’ve become popular across Europe as Christmas cookies with several variations. Regardless of where they are made, these cookies are full of spice and traditionally even included black pepper!
They’re most commonly compared to ginger cookies, but have a deeper flavor profile than most traditional gingerbread cookies.
